"1. Make sure that the head restraint is in the vertical position.
2. Push the plastic covers at the base of each head restraint stalk
forwards, then use a screwdriver either side to press in and release the
cover securing tabs. Slide the covers out of position and up the stalks
(see illustrations).
3. Use a small screwdriver to lift the small black locking levers now
exposed (see illustration). The levers need only be lifted very slightly,
as the 'removal' position is between the two locked positions.
4. Pulling gently on the head restraint, slide it to the rear and out of
the guides.
The illustrations for part 2 show what looks like a fairly simple
operation removing the small plastic covers that the metal support rods
slide into and out of when the head rests go up and down.
The illustration for part 3 looks a little more intricate, sticking a
screwdriver into the hole to flick a tiny lever. As you look down on the
hole from sitting on the back seat, the lever appears to be in the top
right area of the hole. It may be mirror image on half of the holes, and
therefore in the top left. "
